Term 1.

Double Success For Rosehill.

The students of Rosehill Intermediate School have two reasons to celebrate this week. The school softball team has become the Auckland Intermediate School Champions at the recent Champion of Champions Tournament and the school’s ‘Fear Factor’ teams filled the first four places at the NZ Police Bluelight Challenge for Papakura and Franklin schools.

The school softball team, coached by school caretaker Jacob Adams and parent Robert Waller, went through to the Champion of Champions field day, having won the Counties title the previous week at Prince Edward Park.

Four teams of four students travelled to Pukekohe for the Bluelight ‘Fear Factor Challenge’ contested by schools from throughout Papakura and Franklin. The Rosehill teams performed exceptionally well on the day and finished as the top four teams in the competition. Staff member, Mr Mark Johnson, was delighted with the performances saying, “Every student was totally focused on the tasks and the teamwork shown meant that all four teams made good decisions when the pressure was on.”

The winning team now goes through to participate at the national competition to be held in Christchurch later in the year. This trip will be the highlight of the year for the students, Paritoshpal Lall, Amy Shepherd, Chelsea Cave and Calum Busbridge, some of whom haven’t been to the South Island before.

Principal Maria White is delighted for the members of these teams and believes that the extra opportunities to participate in this type of activity at Intermediate School provides great added value to the complete educational experience of the students.

With many more sporting, educational and cultural events coming up over the remainder of the year, the school is looking forward to many more student successes to celebrate.
